GBG Pub Selection Process
GOOD BEER GUIDE SELECTION PROCESS
Allocation for North Hampshire is 25 out of approx 230 eligible pubs/clubs.
GENERAL OVERALL (but refer to geographic spread below)
1) 2/3rds (17) pubs to be selected through beer scores (NBSS) The selection will be based upon beer-scoring criteria including:
- Minimum Beer Scoring (NBSS) achievement
- Minimum no of visits
- Minimum no of surveyors
- Scored at different times
- Length of Tenure of the Publican
2) 1/3rd (8) pubs to be selected by a majority vote at the first selection meetings.
Any Branch member may propose an entry for one of these 'wild card' entries.
Adding reserves is advisable.
Using the above as a basis:
GEOGRAPHIC SPREAD - Allocations to be spread between East and West North Hampshire, using the postcode areas agreed
EAST OF AREA (17 pubs)
- 12 pubs to be selected by beer scores (NBSS) ie top 12 scoring pubs in East of area
- + 5 pubs to be selected by nominations and voting
- Adding reserves is advisable
WEST OF AREA (8 pubs)
- 5 pubs to be selected by beer scores (NBSS) ie top 5 scoring pubs in West of area
- + 3 pubs to be selected by nominations and voting
- Adding reserves is advisable
AREA SELECTION MEETINGS
First Selection - at January Branch Meeting on 8 January 2024, location TBC
Final selection - at February Meeting in each area TBA
Submission Deadline is first week in March.
Note: All North Hampshire members can attend and participate fully in both.
