White Hart HotelThe Square
This impressive former coaching inn dating from 1461 is a centre of community life, with a lively public bar, pleasant dining area and a quiet restaurant to the rear. It also caters for private functions and meetings. It is a hotel but open to non-guests. At the rear is a courtyard with seating. Regular events are held, from discos and bands to charity challenges. Note the stained glass features and the unusual decorated bollards outside the front door. In the square outside, the right to demonstrate was won for the country in the 19th century, and Lord Denning was born in the building across the road.
